It has been a hectic few months at YK HQ. We launched our first range of Greek dips back in May at the New Malden Farmers’ Market, Dulwich Festival Fair and Dulwich Park Fair.
We had no idea what to expect and hoped to sell a few dips, but mostly we wanted to sense people’s reaction to them.We have always believed in Yiayia’s recipes, but it wasn’t until we stood nervously behind our first food stall that we realised we really do have a product that other people love. So much so that we have SOLD OUT at every event!
It’s not all about the dips either, our spanakopita has been flying out of its pie tin and our baklava has pleased sweet-toothed honey nut lovers everywhere. We have even managed to sell a few books as well.
So, it was with great excitement last weekend that we returned to the place where it all began. Yiayia has lived in Wimbledon for over 40 years. Her 3 children were born there, as was the idea for our little baby, Yiayia’s Kouzina.
Taking place on the picturesque Wimbledon Common, The Wimbledon Guild Village Fair was our biggest event to date. With a huge range of entertainment including food villages, shopping areas, children’s zones and entertainment (including JOUSTING!!), there was something for everyone. Yiayia also made a special guest appearance!
We are very happy to announce that we are now selling Greek oregano from the wild mountains of Crete on our stall.
In addition to our oregano, tzatziki, taramosalata and houmous, we also hope to start offering skordalia (potato and garlic dip) and melintzanosalata (aubergine dip) very soon.
We’ll be back at New Malden Farmers’ Market on Saturday 2nd July. We are also currently looking for a more permanent home for our products, but more on that soon.
