Last week, we launched the food side of our business with our first range of authentic Greek tzatziki, houmous and taramosalata dips – all using Yiayia’s recipes and made by our own fair hands!
For the last few months, we have been busy qualifying for food hygiene certificates, testing tubs and lids, designing our packaging, researching the best igloo boxes to keep our dips cool, ordering trestle tables, gazebos and olive garlands to decorate our stall, making dips, dips and more dips and exhausting a few food blenders in the process!
We have poured all of our hearts and most of our time into this business, so we were understandably excited to finally unveil our new branding to family and close friends at Greek Easter.

A few days after Greek Easter, we were the guest speakers at the East Dulwich WI. We took along a few samples of our dips and gave a short presentation about our book, our recipes and our food stall. We were given such a warm welcome from members, who were all enthusiastic and provided lots of valuable feedback ahead of our official launch.

Our first food stall was at the New Malden Farmer’s Market on Saturday and although we were up at the crack of dawn – and the first stallholders on site (spot the newbies!) – we were buzzing all day! As well as our dips, we were selling Yiayia’s spanakopita, baklava and kalamata olives.
Many familiar faces popped over to say hello and new friendships were formed *waves to Alex and Margaret*, but the best news is that we SOLD OUT!
Absolutely everything went and the star of the show was undoubtedly our taramosalata, which everyone kept telling us is nothing like the pink stuff you buy in supermarkets – this is definitely what we were hoping to hear!
Although, selling out did mean that we had to start preparing food for the Dulwich Festival Fair as soon as we got home and unloaded. It turned out to be a long night and a very early start for us in the morning, but we coped, restocked and arrived at the fair looking fresh-faced and ready for another day on the stall.
This was a much bigger event for us, so we made a few extra dips and although we did not totally sell out, these 2 lonely pots of taramosalata were all that was left to take home with us.
It was a brilliant, albeit, exhausting week and we can’t wait to do it all over again at the Dulwich Park Fair this week.
At the moment, the dips are only available from our food stall at various fairs and farmers markets but we hope to find a more permanent home for them soon.
